LADS AND DADS

By making reading a shared activity in the same way that TV viewing or a game of football in the back garden is, fathers can play a major role in ensuring that their sons develop what will hopefully become a lifelong interest. Research has shown that families play a critical role in promoting male literacy, and the impact is especially powerful if the father/male role-model is involved to help boys see that reading is valued.

We hope that through our Lads and Dads session, the male role models were able to demonstrate to their boys that reading is fun and important to them – it definitely looked like they were all captivated by their books!
