Curriculum Committee

The purpose of the Curriculum Committee is to monitor curriculum provision and attainment and achievement of all groups of children at Pitmaston to ensure every child fulfils their potential.  The main function of the committee is to support and challenge the Head Teacher, staff and Governing Body on matters concerning the school curriculum and to hold them to account for this, ensuring that the school curriculum is broad and balanced, and meets the needs of our pupils.

We meet twice a term to:

  • Review school improvement plans
  • Monitor the impact of curriculum planning and policies on pupil progress, with reference to individual groups in order to consistently improve outcomes for all pupils
  • Regularly discuss assessment data and review development targets
  • Review policies
  • Hear from subject leaders
  • Monitor the quality of teaching and learning
  • Monitor attendance
  • Monitor and review the delivery of RE, collective worship and sex education, making recommendations to the governing body for its decision
  • Celebrate achievements
